Course Overview

Throughout the course you will be developing the skills you need to move into a broad range of design based careers working across 2D, 3D and 4D (motion) formats. You will be introduced and skilled-up in industry standard software and equipment, working continuously as part of a team developing high-end design products for live clients.You will learn all aspects of establishing yourself as freelance designer or develop the ability to move confidently into an existing team or company. You will have the opportunity to top up the 114 Credit Diploma to a 220 credit Extended Diploma in the second year. The course is graded Pass, Merit and Distinction.

All students who have not achieved a grade C or above in GCSE English or Maths or both will need to study an English or/and Maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.

Entry Requirements

At least 4 GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 or above, including English or successful completion of a level 2 in Art & Design at merit level and subject to a portfolio interview

  • Software you will learn includes Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, InDesign, DreamWeaver, Cinema 4D) and Studio 3D Max
  • Design based photographic skills
  • Print and publishing work
  • Working effectively as a creative team
  • Developing industry standard design outcomes to a live client led briefs
  • Managing finances as a freelancer
  • Progression to employment (CV writing and application) or HE (UCAS application)
  • Ideas development and pitching

Tuition Costs

No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2017.
