This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Maintenance Operations.
The course covers Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication It also covers small-scale repairs in various trades in the construction sector, for the following trades:
· Building repairs (brickwork)
· Painting and decorating repairs
· Plastering repairs
· Plumbing repairs
· Carpentry repairs
All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.
This study programme will provide you with a range of skills, taught in our fully-equipped workshops. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of local community projects outside the College.
The study programme will also develop your personal, social, and employability skills, and you will receive up to the minute industry knowledge and advice on employability by visiting relevant exhibitions and construction sites. Talks from a wide range of local and national employers will ensure you understand the trade and the skills that they are looking for, but will also give you a good understanding of the various career opportunities and pathways available to you.

Students who completed this programme have progressed onto the next level of study or have gone into employment.
No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2022.
For all students aged 19+ fees will be £1590.
