    Level 2 Make up Artistry with a minimum grade of a merit or equivalent qualification, including a pass in English Language at grade 4(C).

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for working in the theatrical and Media Make-up Artistry industry.

    These are compulsory areas:

    · Working in the film, TV and theatre industry

    · Create historical hair and make-up looks

    · Media make-up creative hair design

    · Fashion and photographic make-up

    · The creation and presentation of a look book and industry portfolio

    · Apply body art

    · Camouflage make-up

    Optional areas include:

    · Cutting and styling techniques for performers

    · Avant-guard hair and make-up

    · Specialist bridal hair and make-up

    · Media Make-up blogging

    Whilst studying on this course you will need to work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This practically based training is essential preparation for gaining employment in the theatrical and Media Makeup industry, or specialist further study.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Media Make-up Artistry provides you with specialist practical skills and knowledge, equipping you with the skills to seek employment or progression within the theatrical and Media Make up industry. Media Make up is a fast-paced, demanding, and exciting industry, and students need to be prepared to put in additional hours within the industry. You will be required to work as artists backstage at fashion shows and theatre productions as part of your mandatory 35 hours of work experience, helping you to enhance and develop your skills and build your confidence to gain employment.

    Next Steps

    You can progress into a range of make-up roles with in the theatre and media industries. You could be a self-employed make-up artist or part of a larger theatrical team.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2021.
