    3 GCSEs at grade 3(D) including English and/or maths OR level 1 Health & Social Care/relevant vocational qualification including English and/or maths at level 1.

    You will need to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) which will need to be in place at enrolment. Students must register with DBS Update Service.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at Suffolk New College - on the coast (Seaward Avenue, Leiston)

    Units you will study include: Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing, Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing, Services in Health and Social Care, Individual Rights in Health and Social Care, Effective Communication in Health and Social Care, Health and Social Care Values, Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care, The Health and Social Care Sector, Promoting Health and Wellbeing, Human Lifespan Development, and Healthy Lifestyles.

    You will be expected to successfully complete a work placement and take part in visits to a range of services in the local area. It is essential that students have the ability to meet assessment deadlines.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    This study programme provides students with the underpinning knowledge and vocational skills for the Health & Social Care sector.

    On this study programme, you are taught by experienced health professionals, who will pass on their knowledge and expertise in the field to you. You also have the opportunity to gain excellent experience by taking part in a range of placements, which will help you decide on your career aim.
