    2 GCSEs at grade 1 including English and maths, or demonstrate the ability to work towards Level 1 in English and maths in an assessment.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Halesworth campus.

    This course will provide you with foundation training for employment or further education within the hospitality industry. The aim of the course is to provide you with the basic practical skills, knowledge and confidence in food preparation, cooking, and food and beverage service. You'll develop relevant core skills for a career in the hospitality industry. You'll gain practical experience training in our purpose-built kitchen where you'll learn how to prepare and cook a variety of fresh foods, customer service and food and beverage service techniques.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Next Steps

    Most Level 1 students choose to move onto study Level 2 qualifications in Professional Cookery, Patisserie, or Food and Beverage Service. However, this will depend on English and maths results and work experience hours attained. Students will have worked on functions and events and will have taken part in competitions and visits, which will assist them in gaining confidence in a range of interpersonal and practical skills so necessary for today’s workplace.
