This course is based at our Ipswich campus.
Functional Skills qualifications are designed to develop the learner’s ability to represent situations using mathematics, including analysing calculations, solving problems using mathematics, and interpreting mathematics to explain situations. Level 1 is assessed with a non-calculator and a calculator exam which will be taken simultaneously in one sitting totalling 1 hour 55 minutes.
The course covers the following areas:
Functional skills classes will take place once a week and be 3 hours in length.
This course is available either face to face, or online. For the online courses learners will need a strong internet connection and a device to access the content (including a camera and a microphone).
Functional Skills Mathematics qualifications were directly developed in response to employer perceptions as to what constitutes firm grounding in mathematical basics. They are designed to give learners the skills they need to operate confidently and effectively in the workplace and everyday life.
Students who successfully complete this course may wish to go on to undertake a Level 2 Functional Skills maths or GCSE maths course.
No tuition fees are payable for students who do not already have a GCSE grade D (3) or above in maths.
