    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Suffolk Rural (Otley) campus.

    Tuesday and Wednesday; 9.30 – 16.00

    A part-time 1 year course with a full ten unit exploration of the skills, techniques and knowledge required to become a florist. The practical course covers units in wedding and funeral floristry, arrangements and hand-tied designs along with designs for function decorating. This course takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

    You will study plant identification and plant care and the skills to monitor quality and display your floral designs. There is also a unit on art and design for florists.

    Assessment is by means of practical timed assessments, portfolios of designs, knowledge tests and projects.

    Additional Costs

    You will be able to purchase a floristry accessories pack from the college's online shop. This package will include sundries such as bases, wires and pins which you will need on a weekly basis. You are welcome to purchase these items externally and your tutor can provide you with a weekly list of what you will require. Your tutor will also be able to support you on where to locate these sundries.

    Flowers required for the course are to be bought externally. We anticipate a cost of £25-£40/per week for flowers.
