    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    The full-time course involves listening, speaking, reading and writing in English as well as developing maths skills. You will also find out about life in the UK and share experiences with people from other cultures. Lessons take place across three days.

    What will I learn on the ESOL course?

    This course will improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English. You will also find out about life in the UK and share experiences with people from other cultures. This will help you to communicate in English in your daily life. As part of the full time course, you may have classes in cooking, sports and theatre too!

    What is the difference between full time and part time ESOL?

    The full time ESOL course is for students aged between 16-18 years old. The part time course is for adults aged 19 or over.

    I haven’t lived in the UK or EU for three years or more. Can I still study on this course?

    Unfortunately, if you have not lived in the UK or EU for the last three years or more, then you will be unable to join the course as you will be classed as an 'overseas' student. To check or query this, you can speak to our Student Support Team on 01473 382738 or by emailing

    My friend/colleague/relative doesn’t speak any English. Can they join this course?

    Yes of course. Our lowest level is Presol (Pre entry 1)

    How many days do I come in for the full time course?

    Students attend College for 3 days a week for the full time course.

    What levels of ESOL do you do?

    For the full time course, we offer Presol (Pre-entry 1) and entry levels 1, 2 and 3 only.

    How do I apply?

    You can apply online via and complete the form. Or if you are at a School in Suffolk, one of our team members may come to see your School Careers Advisor to go through the applications process and assessment with you. You can email if you are unsure or need help.

    How do I know what level to do?

    Every person who wants to join the ESOL course must do an assessment before they join. This is to test your reading, writing, speaking and listening level. We will then let you know which level you can join once the test has been checked by a tutor.
