This course covers the use of manually fed wood chippers.
It covers pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments, operating the machine to chip material appropriate to the capacity of the machine, and hitching and unhitching of the machine. You will need to bring: PPE, Protective boots, a helmet, ear defenders and gloves, a Face visor, First-aid kit. This is an NPTC Integrated Assessment, the assessment will be completed on the same day as the training and is included in the cost.
NPTC – Disabilities and Access Arrangements: Please inform us immediately, if you have not already done so, of any disabilities that may disadvantage you in the successful completion of your assessment; for example, if you have dyslexia or English is not your first language, or any mild disability which may require you to have some assistance.
Under guidance from C&G we are able to make access arrangements for some learners to demonstrate their competence under assessment, without changing the demands of that assessment. Examples of access arrangements include: readers, scribes, extra time, or modified assessment material.
However, as Certificates of Competence are vocational qualifications, candidates must achieve all the required units to gain a full qualification, and the awarding body will not make adjustments to the required competence standards. As an example, pesticide product labels detail essential information, and it is of paramount importance that a candidate is able to read and interpret this information to comply with legislative and operational requirements.
If the candidate is unable to read and/or interpret a product label without assistance then they will not be deemed competent to practice, as if such a person were working without supervision in the workplace, there is the potential for serious incidents to occur. If you would like to discuss this further or make access arrangements for your assessment, then please contact NPTC directly on 01603 731250.
Enrolment End Date: Please note that the enrolment for this course closes 5 working days prior to the start of the course. Unfortunately, it is not possible to process late enrolments after that point.
