This course aims to help learners and Health & Social Care professionals develop their skills and knowledge around how to support people with their nutrition and hydration. Learners must demonstrate their ability to support individuals to eat and drink. They will also learn how to respect individuals while they eat and why it is important to record what they eat and drink.
This is a 1-day course, 09:30-15:30, face-to-face with an online assessment to be completed remotely.
Completion of this course comes with an accredited qualification and certificate recognised in industry.
Course content/units
- Be able to support individuals to make choices about food and drink
- Ways to resolve difficulties about the choice of food
- How and when to seek additional guidance
- Be able to prepare, and provide support for eating and drinking
- Learners should demonstrate effective hand-washing procedures
- Learners should be able to demonstrate how they would talk with an individual about what they would like. The focus is person-centred care. appropriate use of personal protective clothing
- Identify different crockery and utensils that can support eating and drinking
- Learners must explain how to help service users be as self-managing as possible and how to provide support that respects dignity at all times
- Be able to monitor eating and drinking and the support provided
Assessment will include components of practicals in our state-of-the-art Health Science campus, as well as an online suite of assessments to which you will have access.
