Course overview

Step IN Award Level 1.

This qualification will suit students aged 16+.

It would suit learners who need a little more time to settle into college life.

During the course, we focus on adapting to change positively, developing and expanding on soft skills and exploring different progression options. The course is based in the Ipswich Campus over 3 days per week.
The course consists of 8 units, 4 are mandatory and 4 to be decided by the class.

The 4 mandatory ones are;

  • Healthy Lifestyles – Looking at all aspects of healthy living- including nutrition, exercise, sleep, hygiene, health and relationships.
  • Personal Budgeting – Looking at income, expenditure, banking, budgeting and debt avoidance.
  • Assertive Living – Focusing on making positive decisions in different situations and developing coping strategies to assist assertive living for a positive outcome.
  • Preparing for Work – Looking at job searching, CV writing, job application forms and interview preparation.
