Course overview

This course aims to help learners and Health & Social Care professionals to develop their skills and knowledge around Sensory loss. During the course, learners will have the opportunity to find out what causes sensory loss and how people can be supported. Learners will also find out the importance of using a person-centred approach when working with people with sensory loss.

This is a 1-day course, 09:30-15:30, face-to-face with an online assessment to be completed remotely. 

Completion of this course comes with an accredited qualification and certificate recognised in industry.

  • Know the importance of a person-centred approach when working with individuals with sensory loss
  • Know the main causes of sensory loss
  • Outline the main causes of sensory loss
  • Understand the importance of effective communication for individuals with sensory loss
  • Outline factors that need to be considered when communicating with individuals with sensory loss
  • Identify the benefits of effective communication in the lives of individuals with sensory loss
  • Outline how information can be made accessible to individuals with sensory loss

Assessment will include components of practicals in our state-of-the-art Health Science campus, as well as an online suite of assessments to which you will have access.
