This course aims to help learners and Health & Social Care professionals to develop their skills and knowledge around disability awareness. This unit introduces the learner to the social model of disability and compares it to the medical model. It also considers how the social model can be put into practice.
This is a 1 day course, 09:30-15:30, face-to-face with an online assessment to be completed remotely.
Completion of this course comes with an accredited qualification and certificate recognised in industry.
Course content/units
- Know the difference between the terms disability and impairment.
- Know how key legislation protects people who have a disability.
- Understand attitudes and barriers faced by people who have a disability.
- Understand the social model of disability and how it is put into practice.
Assessment will include practical components in our state-of-the-art Health Science campus, as well as an online suite of assessments you will have access to.
