This course aims to help learners and Health & Social Care professionals to develop their skills and knowledge in the Industry. Two units will be covered in this course. In one unit, learners will understand the meaning of the term ‘duty of care’. They will learn how it affects the individual and practitioner and the potential dilemmas the practitioner may encounter. The second unit will be around communication. In this unit, you will learn how to share information between health and social care practitioners and service users and the importance of effective communication.
This is a 2-day course, 09:30-15:30, face-to-face with an online assessment to be completed remotely.
Completion of this course comes with an accredited qualification and certificate recognised in industry.
Course content/units
Duty of care
- Understand the concept of duty of care in health and social care
- Know the role of legislation and workplace policies in helping health and social care organisations and staff to fulfil their duty of care
- Specific legislation
- Outline how legislation and workplace policies, protocols and guidelines help ensure that health and social care organisations and practitioners fulfil their duty of care
- Know about dilemmas relating to duty of care
Communication
- Now about different forms of communication
- Understand the importance of communication between health and social care practitioners and service users
- Know about barriers to communication between health and social care practitioners and service users
- Understand information-sharing between health and social care practitioners within and between services
Assessment will include components of practicals in our state-of-the-art Health Science campus, as well as an online suite of assessments to which you will have access.
