Course overview

This qualification is for learners who are entering the land-based sector. You will learn key knowledge for working in the land-based sector through the study of health & safety, and one other unit that provides introductory knowledge and practical skills in agriculture or animal care. You will be required to have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will be discussed during the enrolment process. At the end of the course, you will receive a pass, merit, or distinction as your overall grade.

Course structure

  • One to two days per week onsite, one day for vocational and one day for English and Maths if required.
  • Work experience placement.
  • Home study and preparation for assessments.

Assessment methods

  • One multiple-choice exam that is externally set and marked.
  • Externally set assessments that are completed under assessment conditions in college.
  • Assessments would include theory and practical tasks.
