    Level 1 Multi-Skills Construction/Carpentry & Joinery including level 1 English and/or maths or relevant industrial experience including English and or maths at level 1.

    Course Overview

    Learn the techniques used in modern building methods that will prepare you for working as a skilled carpenter, including learning how to make a set of stairs and hang a variety of doors through the techniques used in roof work. All teaching will take place in our fully equipped workshops and classrooms under guidance from highly qualified and experienced staff. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    This study programme is aimed at providing you with a range of skills necessary to build a career in the carpentry industry, teaching you skills in our modern workshops.

    You have the opportunity to show off your skills by participating in national and local competitions, such as Skill Build and World Skills. To help prepare you for the world of work, you will visit relevant exhibitions and construction sites, as well as spend some time working on community projects outside the College. The study programme will also develop your personal, social and employability skills.You will learn about the trade and find out what you need to get a job by attending a range of talks by local and national employers.

    Students who completed this programme have progressed onto the next level of study or have gone into employment.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2019.
