  • Entry Requirements

    2 GCSEs at grade 1 including English and/or maths, or demonstrate the ability to work towards level 1 in English and maths in an assessment.

    If you have a grade 4 in both English and maths you can enrol straight onto level 2, should you wish to do so.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This foundation programme of study has been designed to give you a general introduction to the basic skills needed to progress into a career within the construction industry as a Carpenter. You will study both the theory and practical aspects of the subject through completion of specialist units. You will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and other skills associated with working in the industry. Practical activities are completed in fully-resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.
