    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This study programme is for you if you want to learn chef skills in our fantastic kitchens, alongside serving food and drink to our customer base in our excellent restaurant, known as Chef's Whites. You will also experience our Chef's Whites Deli and produce a range of food items for lunch, served to the students in the Atrium. There are exciting internal and external events such as the Mayors Ball and the Suffolk Show that you will participate in as part of our high quality student team.

    This study programme includes evening sessions on a weekly basis.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    This is the study programme that will challenge both your kitchen and restaurant skills and inspire you to craft your own dishes and get your own style.

    Guest chefs and industry professionals will take you to the next level of taste and service! You will showcase your talents at festivals and competitions such as the Suffolk Show and University of Suffolk Summer Ball, and you will work on a range of high profile events in our own White's restaurant and develop your bakery skills in our Chef's Whites Deli.

    Next Steps

    You will be able to gain employment in a Commis Chef or front of house position in the Hospitality and Catering industry, in hotels, restaurants, and bistros. You can develop your skills further with our Level 3 Professional Chef course, or by following the Advanced Apprentice route.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2021.

    Additional Costs

    £260 for uniform/kit, and £150 for trips/materials.

    Tilly Warne - City & Guilds Diploma in Professional Cookery - Level 2

    I had work experience at Milsoms fine dining venue, and entered a national competition as well as working on large corporate functions such as the UCS Summer ball cooking for 600! I am continuing to work in industry to gain further skills and intend to enrol onto the L3 Professional Chef course in 15/16 to expand my skills and range of techniques further.
