Course Overview

This study programme is for you if you have a true love and passion for baking. You will work alongside our experienced chefs who will show you how to develop skills to perfect a range of Patisserie and Confectionery items both classical and contemporary. You will be working in our fantastic kitchens and bakery, producing items such as Macaroons, Mille-Feuille, traditional French pastries and many others.Showcasing your learnt skills and creating items for you to serve customers at afternoon tea. If you are willing, passionate and a team player this is the course for you. Employment opportunities include working in restaurants, bakeries, cafes and bistros as a pastry chef.

All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or maths or both will need to study an English or/and maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D (grade 3) including English Language/

Level 1 functional skills English or achieved a Level 1 Introduction to Hospitality including Level 1 functional skills English & maths, interview and suitable reference.

Next Steps

Our students that completed this course have progressed on to a level 3 in Patisserie or work in industry as specialist pastry chefs in hotels, restaurants and bakeries.

Tuition Costs

No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2018.

Patisserie & Confectionary is something I’ve always been interested in. When I saw that Suffolk New College was offering this as a new course I grabbed the opportunity. I have enjoyed making friends who have the same passion and interests as I do. Another advantage is that you are given the opportunity to retake your Maths or English GCSE alongside your chosen course.

The Learning Curve offers a wide range of resources and support to help towards assignments, exams or for your own leisure. The College is in an ideal location for all public transport, close to the town centre and also has a car park.
