    · There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but students must be at least 19 years of age.

    · It is an Ofsted requirement for people wanting to set up a child-minding business to complete this qualification prior to registering with Ofsted.

    · Students must have internet access and English at Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent. Students will be set a written task prior to enrolment.

    · Students must be committed to undertaking between 5 – 10 hours of independent study weekly to complete the assessment requirements of this course.

    Course Overview

    This is a knowledge-only unit which assists with the development of policies and procedures that support registration as a ‘Child Minder’, and reflects current registration requirements within England. It will enable the learner to develop basic business skills that they will need to acquire to set up and maintain a successful home-based childcare service. Assessment is through written knowledge-based tasks.
