  • Entry Requirements

    • Be at least 19 years of age.
    • Hold a full level 3 qualification in early years/childcare qualification
    • Be working with children in an employed role for at least 16 hours per week
    • Students must have a GCSE grade 4 (grade C) in English and maths (or equivalent) prior to enrolment.
    • Have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks in place with employer.

    Should you require an Advanced Learner Loan this must be confirmed prior to enrolment.

    Course Overview

    This qualification will suit students aged 19 and over, and who are currently employed as an early years Level 3 practitioner, working with children from birth to 5 years of age. It would suit learners who are looking to develop leadership and specialist skills for use in their current role, or in preparation to take on a specialist role such as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator or a Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator.

    The course consists of five mandatory units:

    EYAP 1: Enabling children to learn

    EYAP 2: Promoting health and well-being through physical activity and nutrition co- ordination (PANCo) in the early years

    EYAP 3: Working with others to support children with additional needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disability

    EYAP 4: Working with families and other professionals in early years settings

    EYAP 5: Implementing change in an early years setting incorporating a small scale research project.

    Next Steps

    This qualification is a good choice for you if you are looking to progress to become an Advanced Practitioner within the early years workforce. The Advanced Practitioner will use crucial leadership skills to mentor others across all roles and responsibilities in the early years workforce.

    On completion of the course, students will be excellently placed to move into managerial roles; SENCO roles; PANCO roles; mentoring and coaching roles within early years settings. Students will also be well prepared to enter higher education at degree level.

    Alternative avenues include the opportunity to progress into Higher Education and could provide evidence for a personal statement to enable mature students to enter HE. Students can progress onto FdA (Foundation Degrees) or honours degrees at higher education institutions.
