    • Entry Requirements

    • Be at least 19 years of age.
    • Have a minimum of GCSE grade 4 (grade C) in English (or equivalent O’ level). Students will be required to complete a written assessment prior to enrolment to assess suitability for course and relevant work experience.
    • Minimum of grade 3 (D) in GCSE maths or equivalent.
    • Students will need to be working, volunteering, or on a practical placement for a minimum of 16 hours per week as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
    • Complete Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks with employer.
    • Commitment to completing between 15 and 20 hours private study to meet standards of assessment at level 3.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This qualification is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people at an unsupervised level, in a diverse range of job roles, within early learning and childcare. Subjects covered include child development (birth to 7 years), observation, planning, health & safety, safeguarding, and the role of the practitioner (plus much more). Assessment of skills in the real working environment is facilitated by an assessor, alongside knowledge units which are assessed by a tutor following classroom teaching.

    Course Highlights

    Opportunities to work in an unsupervised capacity as:

    • Supervisor in day nurseries, nursery schools and nursery or reception classes in primary schools
    • Children’s centres supervisor
    • Registered childminders and nannies

    Or progress onto Level 4 Advanced Practitioner, Foundation Degree at University or Level 5 in Leadership and Management.

    Tuition Costs

    19+ fees will be £2882.
