    A good standard of maths and English is required.

    3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) including English and/or maths,or Level 1 qualification including English & maths at level 1.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This study programme will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the operations and structures of businesses, developing the skills required to succeed in employment or to further your education. Students cover a range of units and will complete assignments investigating topics such as Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources, as well as Leadership Skills. You will be assessed through internal projects and an external assessment. Students are expected to undertake 12 hours of independent research and study each week. Students benefit from support in developing personal, social, and employability skills including work experience with local employers.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    Throughout this study programme you will experience how different businesses work. In business it’s not just what you know, but who you know too, which is why you will be meeting and hearing from a number of guest speakers from both the private and public sector. These experienced professionals will support your activities and share with you information about how their businesses work, providing you with a valuable insight in to the business world. You will put the skills you learn to the test by planning a business venture of your own, with their support.

    Next Steps

    Students that successfully complete this study programme may be eligible to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business. This study programme also prepares students to start their own business or for a career in business in either the private or public sector, working in areas such as; Marketing, Retail, Human Resources, or Finance.

    Students will be required to have GCSE Grade C or 4, in English or maths, or equivalent level 2 Functional Skills, to progress to Level 3 in Business.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2022.

    Additional Costs

    (Subject to change)

    £50 for trips. Students are also encouraged to purchase a textbook to support their studies, which costs £20. There is an optional trip to Disneyland Paris which costs around £300.
