Course Overview

The Extended Diploma in Information Technology consists of 13 units to be studied across 2 years. 

Amongst the subjects studied will be Information Technology Systems, Creating Systems to Manage Information, Using Social Media in Business, IT Project Management and Cyber security. You will be assessed via a mix of course work, controlled assessments and external exams.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A* - C (grade 4 and above) including English Language & maths or achieved a Level 2 Information Technology at a Merit grade or above including Level 2 functional skills English & maths, interview and suitable reference. 

If you achieve 4 GCSEs at grade A* - C (grade 4 and above) including English Language you can enrol on a one year programme with the opportunity to then progress to the second year.

Course Highlights

You will study technical, creative as well as business uses of IT.

You also have the opportunity to attend national trade shows, including EGX Rezzed, part of the London Games Festival, where students will have a chance to discuss working in the games industry with professional developers and find out about university course related to developing games.

You will be offered the chance to take exciting new on-line qualifications offered by ‘Codecademy’. Examples of the topics covered by these include HTML, CSS, Python and Ruby.

Next Steps

Students who complete this course may progress on to Higher Education, or you could enter full-time employment as an IT technician or within computer retail. Alternatively, you could enter the apprenticeship scheme at an advanced level.

Tuition Costs

No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2018.
