    2 GCSEs at Grade 1 including maths and/or English, or demonstrate the ability to work towards Level 1 in maths and English in an assessment.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    You will study units about Public Service, Employability and Sport; these include:

    • College Induction

    • Teamwork

    • Taking part in sport

    • Problem solving in the work place

    • Contributing to running an event

    • Research skills

    • Responding to an incident

    • Personal career planning

    • Playing sport

    • Presentation skills for Public Services

    • Assisting in a sporting activity

    • Work Experience

    You will be in College for 3 full days. You will need to attend college on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

    You will be expected to attend all of your Maths and English lessons which are 3 hours each a week. Failure to do so will result in withdrawal from the course.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    This course is a fantastic stepping stone to help you progress on to a level 2 course, employment, or an apprenticeship.

    You will learn new industry-related skills and information by taking part in practical activities and listening to guest speakers, and gain an insight into the different roles and jobs within public services.

    The course has an exciting blend of practical learning, theory, and the development of wider skills such as confidence, resilience, and ownership.

    Next Steps

    On successful completion of the level 1 course and a suitable level of English and maths will allow progression onto a Level 2 Public Service course, employment or an apprenticeship.

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2021.
