    Course Overview

    This course takes place at our Suffolk Rural campus in Otley.

    This Basis Foundation course has a strong blend of both field-based sessions lead by industry specialists, and essential underpinning theory.

    Aimed at managers and key operators interested in improving their knowledge in crop husbandry and soil management, the course will provide the grounding for a career in Agronomy and will have many benefits for those managing crop based enterprises. It leads to the BASIS Foundation Award in Agronomy (Optional: Associate membership of BASIS Professional Register).

    You will need to bring: writing materials to take your own course notes on the day. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring with you all-weather outerwear and sturdy, walking footwear. Some of the class will be held in classrooms and some will be taken out in the field.

    Assessment

    Competency is assessed via a written paper exam consisting of 40 multiple-choice question (40% of the total mark) and three structured short-answer questions (60% of the total marks) with a time allowance of 90 minutes. A minimum of 70% is required to pass. Please see the assessment syllabus sent alongside these joining instructions.

    Certification will be issued to successful candidates directly from the BASIS examinations board. On passing the examination candidates will be added to the BASIS Professional Register as Associate members. To retain their membership they will be required to ensure that their annual CPD Requirement and Membership Fees are kept up to date.

    Disabilities and Access Arrangements

    Please inform us immediately, if you have not already done so, of any disabilities that may disadvantage you in successful completion of your assessment; for example if you have dyslexia or English is not your first language, or any mild disability which may require you to have some assistance.

    BASIS Registration Ltd allows students diagnosed with Dyslexia to request special examination arrangements. Proof of dyslexia is required a minimum of 4 weeks before the exam date so that BASIS can provide special examination arrangements if required.
