    You need to be between 16 and 18 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

    You should have 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English at grade 5 or above.

    Course Overview

    Get ready to take the next step on your educational journey after your GCSEs, and the challenge of a new and exciting type of qualification!

    T Levels are the new ‘Gold Standard’ in technical qualifications and are designed to ensure that learners are more employable and enable learners studying this to progress into an Accounting role. A T Level is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is a brand new two-year courses, developed in collaboration with employers and providers so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for the world of work.

    T Levels offer you a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 45 days. They will provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled careers in management, business, business support roles and administration and/or higher apprenticeship or further education.

    The T Level In Accounting is designed to enable learners to become an Assistant Accountant.

    The T Level is different to the BTEC and A Levels as you will complete a substantial Industry Placement in an accounting department, where you will not only gain the knowledge and skills required to progress into the industry, but you will also have relevant work experience. The T Level is assessed via two examinations and two projects.

    • Professionalism and ethics/equality, diversity and inclusion
    • Security and risk
    • Professional services
    • Fundamentals of law
    • Fundamentals of financial accounting
    • Technology
    • Data driven innovation/analytics and design thinking
    • Research skills
    • Project/change management and administration
    • Fundamentals of financial accounting (accounting pathway content).

    As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills, and attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.

    How will I be assessed?

    Around 80% of your time will be spent in the classroom, learning the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where you’ll put these skills into practice. You will be assessed via two examinations and two projects.

    After successful completion of the Accounting T Level, you will receive an overall grade of pass, merit, distinction or distinction. You will get a nationally recognised certificate which will show your overall grade and a breakdown of what you have achieved.

    To help you get into higher education, UCAS tariff points will be allocated to T Levels. UCAS points will only be allocated to the overall T Level grade.

    What could I do after this course?

    The T Level In Accounting is designed to enable learners to become an Assistant Accountant it will open up many opportunities while your industry placement highlights your commitment to careers in this area. You will have opportunities to progress to university degrees, higher apprenticeships or directly to the workplace. This qualification is intended for those who wish to pursue a career In Accounting and Finance.

    The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has worked with Pearson on the Accounting T Level to ensure the qualification content is current and enables students to gain industry recognised qualifications that will enable them to progress to chartered status.

    Tuition Costs

    There are no tuition fees to study a T Level if you start before you are 19 years old but there will be material costs that will need to be paid at the start of the course.
