Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get to the college?

We are a 5 minute walk from town (straight down Rope Walk) or alternatively there are bus stops near-by on Grimwade Street, St Helens Street and Fore Hamlet.

You are welcome to park in either Rope Walk (postcode for Sat Nav is IP4 2LB) or Grimwade Street (postcode for Sat Nav is IP4 1LP) when visiting us.

Please make sure you sign in at reception with your registration number before to avoid a fine.
During term-time car parking will return to £3 per day.

If you are cycling make sure you bring a secure lock to ensure your cycle is safe.

Where do I go?

Head towards the main college reception (look out for the big college logo on the side of the silver building!)

You’ll now enter the College atrium, in here you will be greeted by a member of our welcoming team (look out for the orange shirts!) and directed to the part of the atrium where your subject is.

What will I do on the day?

The point of the College Experience day is to give you a full day at the College to experience the campus, meet the staff, make new friends and find your way around before September. During the day you will attend lectures and workshops and will have the chance to work alongside other people who have signed up for the same course.

What about Lunch? Where can I get it?

You are able to purchase both hot and cold food and drink in the college Atrium but also welcome to bring in any food and eat in the building or outside.

Is there somewhere I can sit that’s quiet?

We have quiet areas in the Learning Curve (this is just off the atrium and contains books, graphic journals and access to computers).

You are also welcome to spend your break and lunch time outside the college where seating is provided.

Is there someone I can talk to if I have a problem during the day?

Yes, of course! You are able to speak to a tutor in one of your sessions or come to Student Support (just off the atrium) to have a chat about anything that might be worrying you.

Our Student Safety Rangers patrol the campus and wear green polo shirts, they are very nice and approachable so please feel free to say hi or pop across to see them if you need any help.

I want to talk to someone before I attend

You can call student support on 01473 382738 who will be able to pass any questions you have to the relevant person.

I’m not sure about the course I chose – is it too late to change?

You are able to swap your application to a different course in Student Support, if you would like some further advice and guidance about your options pop along to see our school liaison officer Hayley who will be setup in The Workspace (just outside under the “Zone” logo)

I loved the day! What do I do now?

We will send you details about enrolment in the post so keep your eyes peeled!

We’ll tell you when to come in, what to bring and what you will be doing.
