Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Advice for Employers of Apprentices

Suffolk New College is aware that in this current Public Health Emergency you may have some concerns about your apprentice and the impact of Covid-19. The Health and Safety of all apprentices is paramount in this current pandemic, and we will support you in any way we can.

We continue to advise you to go to the NHS 111 online about the Coronavirus if you have any specific queries in relation to Covid-19 and guidance as the employer.

We continue to follow the guidance of the Department of Education and Public Health and this advice is currently changing daily. We continue to work closely with external links supporting colleges at this unprecedented time for confirmation of aspects of Observation and End point Assessment which is usually delivered face to face and requesting flexibilities where possible, to keep apprentices progressing to achieve a positive outcome.

Our physical college sites are temporarily closed, however it is our intention that our Assessors/Training Co-ordinators and Tutors will continue apprentices learning journey remotely, and will be in contact with both the apprentice and employer to set work, targets and advise on opportunities and ways to continue progress in these unprecedented times.

Please continue to report your apprentice’s absence, any illness stating whether Covid-19 related, furloughed or employment change of status to your relevant Assessor/Training Co-ordinator.

If you have any further queries or questions the apprenticeship team will be able to support, you over the coming weeks.
