Technician in Horticulture
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Up to £20,709 per annum
This is an exciting opportunity to work at our Suffolk Rural campus as a Technician in Horticulture. You will be required to provide technical advice, support and practical assistance to staff and students, and will be responsible for preparing, maintaining the equipment and materials within the practical workspaces, alongside ensuring safe working practices.
This role will support the development of a commercial provision onsite to provide for the local community. You will work closely with the Horticulture Centre Manager to build up a local customer base, marketing information and a commercial growing plan as well as maintaining the facilities on site
You should have a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject e.g. RHS qualification and a good understanding of health & safety. You should also have relevant industry expertise, including knowledge and experience of plant science, plant propagation techniques, budding and grafting and a good understanding of relevant horticulture machinery such as hedge cutters, lawnmowers, strimmer’s etc.
This post is based at Suffolk New College Suffolk Rural, however Suffolk New College is a multi campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
