This is an exciting opportunity to work at Suffolk New College as an Apprentice Painter and Decorator within the Estates and Facility Department.

You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks mainly focussed on painting and decoration across all college sites. In addition to painting and decorating the team also undertakes general building maintenance, building security, deliveries.

Working in a small team you will need to be able to demonstrate excellent team working skills, have a ‘can do’ attitude, as well as being pro-active and able to work on your own initiative.  The ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently with attention to detail are also important skills.

You will be required to operate machinery and tools to undertake work related tasks and use cleaning chemicals to undertake associated tasks.

A driving licence is desirable but not essential although there will be a requirement to travel between college sites.

You should have a good standard of education including maths and English at level 2 (GCSE 4/C). The role will involve working in the Estates & Facilities department therefore an interest in facility maintenance and knowledge in painting and decoration and the ability to be able to support with the practical and technical skills required.

An essential requirement of this fixed-term role is to effectively follow an Individual Learning Plan to complete a Level 2 Qualification in Painting and Decoration within the specified time period.

This post is based at Suffolk New College Ipswich Campus.  However Suffolk New College is a multi campus site therefore you will be required to work at and travel between campuses
