IT Technician

Vacancy overview

IT Technician (Evening Cover)

Salary within the range of £19,272 up to £21,222 per annum pro rata

18 hours per week, 36 weeks per year*

This is an opportunity to join the IT Services team at Suffolk New College as an IT Technician, working in the evenings during term time with the option for additional work in vacation periods.

This role is ideally suited to someone with moderate IT or electrical/electronic skills who wishes to have a different work/life balance than a normal daytime job would provide. It would also serve as a good starting point for a person wishing to pursue a career in IT looking for their first role.

The purpose of this role is to provide evening cover for the College’s IT infrastructure covering duties such as equipment and cabling checks, repairs/replacements of PCs, asset checking and tracking, support for activities such as College Open Events, video conference meetings and presentations, and computer-based Online Exams.

This role will suit someone who is an independent thinker, who is thorough, and can learn quickly and enjoys a technical challenge. The ideal candidate will also have strong teamwork skills who can be relied upon to play their part to ensure that the overall activities of the team meet the objective of providing a reliable, modern and safe IT experience for our students and staff.

*There will also be additional weeks to be worked outside of term time which will be mutually agreed with the Director of IT Services.

This main base for this post is the Ipswich Campus, however Suffolk New College is a multi-campus, therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
