Students will develop their knowledge of children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare, specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual and special needs support, personal development and reflective practice. It is suitable for teaching assistants, learning support assistants, parent support advisors, learning mentors or those in similar roles at level 3.
Assessment of skills in the Real Working environment is facilitated by an assessor alongside knowledge units which are assessed by a tutor.

Work in roles that offer specialist support for pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools.

Complete Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks in accordance with requirements of employer if in work or volunteering. We recommend students purchase at least one course text book to support this qualification, this will be advised during induction.
