This foundation programme of study has been designed to give you a general introduction to the basic skills needed to progress into a career within the construction industry as a painter or decorator. Practical activities will include proficiency in the use, maintenance and storage of tools and equipment and the practice of basic paint application methods.
Led by highly competent and qualified staff, you will gain essential basic skills and knowledge to prepare you for further study in this area of work. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

A profile of GCSEs at Grade F (or their equivalent).
This is a study programme where you will learn basic practical aspects of Painting & Decorating in our modern workshops, with opportunities to progress to a higher level. You can test your skills against others at exhibitions and competitions, such as the Suffolk Show, while also having the chance to gain a greater understanding of working life by working on community projects. The course will also involve your personal, social and employability skills.You will learn about the trade and find out what you need to get a job by attending different exhibitions and attending a range of talks by local and national employers.
82% of students who completed this programme have progressed onto the next level of study or have gone into employment.

Our tutors demonstrated in a step by step manner that made each part of the course easy to understand. They were fun to get on with which made the course enjoyable to attend. I plan to finish my course in painting and decorating at the College over the next two years and look to further my education in interior design.
