Course Overview

This study programme is for you if you want to learn chef skills in our fantastic kitchens alongside serving food and drink to our customer base in our excellent restaurant, known as Shelley’s. You will also experience our Granary café and produce a range of food items for lunch served to the students in the Atrium. There are exciting internal and external events such as the Mayors Ball and the Suffolk Show that you will participate in as part of our high quality student team. You may want to seek a junior kitchen position in a wide range of hospitality outlets including fine dining hotels and restaurants, bistros and cafes.

Next Steps

You will be able to gain employment in a Commis Chef position in the Hospitality

and catering industry, in hotels, restaurants and bistros. You can develop your skills further with a level 3 Diploma in Cookery or follow the Advanced Apprentice route

Tuition Costs

No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2016

Additional Costs

Approximately £225 for uniform/kit and £30 for trips/materials

I had work experience at Milsoms fine dining venue, and entered a national competition as well as working on large corporate functions such as the UCS Summer ball cooking for 600! I am continuing to work in industry to gain further skills and intend to enrol onto the L3 Professional Chef course in 15/16 to expand my skills and range of techniques further.
