Unusual Prize Won in Suffolk College Charity Raffle - 21 December 2006

UNUSUAL PRIZE WON IN SUFFOLK COLLEGE CHARITY RAFFLE - 21 DECEMBER 2006

Staff at Suffolk College have raised nearly £1100.00 from the sale of tickets for the annual Staff Christmas Party and the sale of raffle tickets. This money will be donated to the Mayor’s Charities which, for this year, are the Royal National Lifeboats Institution, Ipswich Sea Scouts – TS Orwell and Ipswich Community Playbus.

One of the many prizes offered in the raffle was a 10 minute accompanied drive of a 20 tonne demolition excavator on the Suffolk College site. This prize was kindly donated by CDC Demolition Ltd of Waldringfield, who has undertaken the demolition of the building to the north of the current Suffolk College site to make way for the new £60 million further education college planned for the site. Gary Renouf, Director of CDC, said, “We are delighted to be able to support Suffolk College and the Mayor’s charities.”

The prize was won by College Administrative Officer Sandra Bromley. Sandra, who received her prize earlier this week, said, “I’ve had a wonderful time and would love to do it again - It’s certainly not something I do everyday.”
