Learning Centre Anniversary - 21 February 2005

A Suffolk learning centre with an expanding range of courses and growing learner numbers has celebrated its first anniversary.

Suffolk College, through the Suffolk Institute of Technology, operates a community learning centre in Framlingham which uses flexible on-line courses to meet the needs of individuals and local businesses.

Guests from the Suffolk College, local businesses and past learners attended the celebration held at Framlingham Technology Centre.

“This has been a pleasing first year for us in Framlingham,” said David Bowers, Associate Dean for Learning Resources at Suffolk College. “Using the range of high quality on-line materials from learndirect, we can offer courses in IT at all levels, business and management skills, and revision courses in essential maths and English. Learners appreciate the fact that they can enrol and start whenever they like, and follow the course at their own pace. This means you can fit learning around work or family commitments.”

Clare Avery, Associate Dean of Suffolk Institute of Technology (SIT), presented certificates to recent successful learners. “The Framlingham learning centre offers nationally recognised qualifications such as the European Computer Driving Licence or the National Tests in Literacy and Numeracy. At the same time, we welcome those who simply want to learn for personal satisfaction,” she said.
