SUFFOLK NEW COLLEGE I-COVE SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH IBM

i-CoVE, Suffolk New College’s Centre of Vocational Excellence for ICT, has become only the second IBM System i Academy in the UK. System i5 has taken over from the long established AS/400 series of servers. System i5 is optimised for virtualisation with the capability for running multiple operating systems and applications simultaneously so offering incredible cost savings in server count.

Melvin Millard, i-CoVE Manager says “i-CoVE is all about forming partnerships to enable us to better serve the training needs of local and regional employers. This partnership with IBM brings high quality training, only previously found in London, to the centre of the local business community. The addition of IBM System i Academy complements our PRINCE2 and ITIL courses target specifically at IT professionals. Furthermore, we will be including IBM server modules in our full-time national diploma courses for IT and Electronics. This, together with the existing Cisco networking modules means our students will leave college with skills which will make them stand-out from the crowd in this highly competitive job market.”

I-CoVE and IBM jointly announced the partnership at Adastral Park at the first symposium of Networking in the 21st Century jointly promoted by IP-City and BT.
