Suffolk College Announces Honorary Graduates For 2006 - 7 September 2006

SUFFOLK COLLEGE ANNOUNCES HONORARY GRADUATES FOR 2006 - 7 SEPTEMBER 2006

The following will be receiving Honorary Degrees of the University of East Anglia at our Higher Education Graduation Ceremonies on Wednesday, 25 October 2006 and Thursday, 26 October 2006: The Graduation Ceremonies will this year be held at the Trinity Park Conference and Events Centre (formerly the Suffolk Showground).

Honorary Degrees are awarded to those individuals with a national or international reputation; individuals who have made a significant contribution to Ipswich or the County of Suffolk or individuals with a strong connection to Ipswich or the County of Suffolk.

Assis Carreiro:

Assis Carreiro has been Director of Ipswich based Dance Agency DanceEast for nearly four years. Prior to that she was the founding Director of Birmingham’s Dance Exchange and then went to London to work for The Place and Random Dance. Assis will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law at the ceremony on Wednesday, 25 October 2006 at 1100 hours.

Jasper Conran:

Jasper Conran has been the Designer and Managing Director of Jasper Conran Ltd since 1978. He has received numerous awards over the years and is renowned for getting involved in local community events. Jasper will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law at the ceremony on Thursday, 26 October 2005 at 1500 hours subject to availability.

Jacqui Dankworth:

Jacqui Dankworth is highly regarded as a singer and tours all over the country and internationally. She started as an actress and then went on to have a very successful recording career. Jacqui will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music at the ceremony on Wednesday, 25 October 2006 at 1830 hours.

Pat Hutchins:

Freelance writer and illustrator of Children’s books, Pat Hutchins, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Lawat the ceremony on Wednesday, 25 October 2006 at 1500 hours.

Ian Lavender:

The actor Ian Lavender has appeared in numerous television programmes and made appearances in the West End. He makes regular appearances in the region to support health-related charities following his battle with cancer ten years ago. Ian will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law at the ceremony on Thursday, 26 October 2006 at 1100 hours.

Bill Wyman:

Bill Wyman is a well known musician. Following his retirement from the Rolling Stones in 1993 he formed the Rhythm Kings. He has written books, appeared in numerous films, written soundtracks and won a variety of high profile awards. Bill will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law at the ceremony on Thursday, 26 October 2006 at 1830 hours.
