SPECIAL GUESTS TO ATTEND AWARDS EVENING - 28 NOVEMBER 2005

Inventor & Special Effect Expert and Nia Project Founder to Join Successful Suffolk College Students at Awards Evening

On Monday 4 December Rex Garrod, inventor and special effects expert, will be Guest of Honour at the Suffolk College Further Education (FE) Reunion and Celebration of Achievement evening. Rex was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law at Suffolk College in 2005. Del White, Nia Project founder, will be Guest of Honour on Tuesday 5 December.

More than 1,000 Suffolk College FE students achieved their qualifications last summer, many of them will be attending the Awards Celebrations where they will formally be presented with their certificates.

For the first time the awards will be held at the Corn Exchange in Ipswich Town Centre as the College Main Hall has been demolished to make way for the development of a £59 million new further education College.

Whilst the venue may have changed, there is at least one feature that hasn’t. Performing Arts students will begin the evening with a performance of the opening number from the hit musical ‘A Chorus Line’. Some fifty students will burst on to the stage of the Corn Exchange with song and dance under the direction of Imogen Fraser and Rosamund Walton in what promises to be a very thrilling and colourful start to the proceedings.

Each Curriculum Centre will present special awards to the Best Overall Performer and the Most Improved Student. In addition, many local businesses will show their support for the College by sponsoring further prizes.

After the event, the students and their guests will have the opportunity to catch up with friends and tutors whilst enjoying light refreshments, prepared and served by the FE catering students, and live music from the FE music students.
