Junior Chef Academy Graduation at Suffolk College - 10 January 2007
Following another successful term of Junior Chef Academy (JCA) courses two graduations took place last December, on Tuesday evening on the 12th and on Saturday morning on the 16th.
The JCA courses which operate at Suffolk College and Stoke High School are for 14 to 16 year olds who love cooking. The courses culminate in a graduation ceremony where local celebrity chef Emma Crowhurst and Dr Peter Messent of the Worshipful Company of Cooks, London, presented the awards.
The popular courses which are supported by the Compass Group have grown from one to two sessions per week in less than a year. Last May at the Junior Chef Academy Challenge competition held at West Suffolk College, the 1st and 2nd prize was taken by the Suffolk College Junior Chefs after beating off stiff competition from three other colleges.
Greg Cheeseman, the course tutor, said, “These students are brilliant; they’re keen, eager to learn and some will make excellent chefs.”
