ITFC Join forces with Suffolk College to offer media experience for all - 20 March 2007
ITFC academy boys recently came to Suffolk College to take part in a training day with the students from the media department.
The ITFC scholars faced a gruelling mock press conference, complete with flash bulbs, then went on to have interviews in the radio and TV studios (picture below).
Kim Trotter, senior lecturer at the College, said, "This is the second year we have set this project up and it’s proven to be very beneficial to both parties. It gives the media students a taste of what its like to work in the real media industry and interview potential stars of the future, whilst providing valuable training to the academy boys who at some stage are likely to have to give interviews to the press."
The day, organised as a partnership project between the Academy and the College, was part of the young scholars’ and the media students’ assignments. The students will edit the interviews and give copies to the scholars for their portfolios.
ITFC academy scholar, Kieran LeaBon , said, "Its very nerve wracking when you walk into the press conference, even though they're not journalists it feels very real. Some of us were sweating a little!"
The day was brought to a close with an informal lunch where students and the players could relax and mingle.
