UCU Strike Action - College Open

Despite UCU confirming strike action, Suffolk New College will be open for business on Thursday 30 June 2011 to all students except those from ‘the Link’ as we cannot guarantee students with specific needs will have all of their usual support in place. The primary concern for the College remains the wellbeing of its students. It is anticipated that some, but not all lecturing staff will take part in the action therefore timetables will not be affected.

UCU’s strike action is in relation to national changes to the teachers pension scheme. Commenting on the strike action, Professor Dave Muller, Principal of Suffolk New College said:

“whilst we are sympathetic to the concerns of the staff, the College does not condone strike action.”
