Outstanding OfSTED Inspection Report For The Nursery@Suffolk College - 19 May 2004
Three months after its official opening by Ruthie Henshall, The Nursery@Suffolk College is celebrating a glowing report following a recent OfSTED Combined Inspection. Not only did the Inspectors comment on the high quality of care and education provided, they also awarded the rare accolade of ‘outstanding practice’ for the Nursery’s ‘special needs’ work.
Of the 14 National Standards used as measures of quality The Nursery@Suffolk College was judged ‘Very Good ‘ in every area and the report concluded that there were ‘no significant weaknesses to report’. The move to the new purpose built resources has been noted as a significant improvement and the only point for consideration is the development of the outside play area, planning for which is underway.
The report notes that partnership with parents is very good and that the centre has a strong emphasis on equal opportunities and health and safety. Leadership and management are also judged to be ‘very good’.
Dr Peter Funnell, Assistant Principal (Learning Development) said: “This is an outstanding report which recognises the work of an outstanding professional team. It has been an exceptionally busy year for all concerned with the Nursery and the OfSTED report gives conclusive evidence that not only have standards not suffered during the inevitable disruption of the move but have actually improved!”
He went on to say: “I am particularly pleased that the inspectors have acknowledged the high quality education offered at the Nursery including communication, language and literacy and mathematical development. This type of provision gives the young person an important start in life and is consistent with the College’s wider commitment to offer high quality education and training for its students”.
Parents using The Nursery@Suffolk College include College students and staff together with others supported through the neighbourhood nurseries initiative.
