New Learning Centre launched in Framlingham - 1 April 2004

A new hi-tech learning centre meeting the needs of individuals and businesses was formally launched in Framlingham this week.

The Suffolk Institute of Technology (SIT) Learning Centre is designed to exploit new technology to provide online learning and training opportunities in a flexible, individualised and cost-effective way. Courses on offer include IT skills from complete beginner to advanced, personal development courses for business and management, and applications of Internet technology. Literally hundreds of courses are available at the Centre from the learndirect and SIT portfolios.

Launching the centre, Professor Richard Nichol, Head of CMI at Adastral Park, welcomed the range of courses available: “This is exactly what local business needs – high quality and accessible training close to the workplace,” he said.

Dr Peter Funnell, Assistant Principal at Suffolk College and Executive Director of SIT, praised those who had worked to open the centre earlier in the year: “This learning centre, supported by the Suffolk Development Agency, represents a major initiative of the SIT, designed to widen participation in education and training among the local community. It’s location here at the Framlingham Technology Centre builds on and adds value to the excellent facilities available to the wider community.”
