New Careers Resource Centre At Suffolk College - 3 March 2005

Anne Benson, Director of the Careers Centre at University of East Anglia, opened the new Careers Resource Centre at Suffolk College on 3 February. Guests included advisors from local schools, Connexions and the Suffolk Information Advice & Guidance Service.

Anne said that many Universities would be envious of the facilities which are available to students and prospective students seeking advice at Suffolk College. She pointed out the advantages of an easily accessible one-stop shop with staff trained to give information and advice and to help people use the computers and reference material available.

Introducing Anne, Judith Rose , Associate Dean of Student Support at Suffolk College, said that the Centre was the contact point for all the Student Support Services. She described how the Student Support Reception desk located in the Careers Centre allowed all students to ask about Careers, Finance, Counselling, Chaplaincy, Childcare and Disability Support in one place.

Visiting adviser, Tim Granville of Suffolk Information Advice & Guidance Network, commented, "Suffolk College has long had a commitment to providing a high-quality careers and advisory service to both prospective and current students. The new resource centre marks a continuation of this commitment and it will undoubtedly be of considerable value. The centre provides users with a range of up-to-date resources and, most importantly, easy access to qualified advisory staff."
