Art & Design Summer Exhibition 2004 - 21 June 2004
The Suffolk College Creative Arts & Media Further Education Art & Design Summer Exhibition 2004 is currently showing at the main College campus in Rope Walk, Ipswich.
The show, which is open to the public, features work from the full breadth of art and design media, covering fashion, textiles, photography, graphic design, multi-media computer-generated design, animation, film and video, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and illustration. Some of the works are for sale.
Students from many countries – including Japan, Germany, Austria, Portugal, China and Malaysia – have chosen to study Art & Design at Suffolk College, drawn by the exceptional range of specialist staff and workshop resources that are available across a broad spectrum of disciplines.
This is an outstanding year, even by the established high standards of the Creative Arts and Media curriculum centre. All of the 102 National Diploma and Foundation course students who applied to higher education institutions gained a place, mostly in their first choice colleges. This 100% success rate is greatly in excess of the national rate of 54%.
As part of the celebrations, 5 students will each be presented with one of the annual Victoria Davidson Awards. Worth £100 each, these awards are funded from an endowment bequeathed by local artist Victoria Davidson who died in 1999. Based in Boxford, her illustrations won international renown and her work is represented in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The exhibition is open on week days between 10.00am and 4:30pm in R Block and Long Street until Wednesday 30 June 2004.
