After Your Exams … - East Anglian Daily Times Education Page, May 2004
Although it feels a bit like tempting fate, it’s probably safe to say that Spring is finally here. Certainly in the education world we have just started the Summer term, which of course for many students and pupils means the looming spectre of exams coupled with the added pressure of deciding what to do next.
Thankfully, one of those issues can be dealt with early on as enrolment in Suffolk College courses begins the first week in May.
The College’s 9 Further Education curriculum centres and 2 Higher Education faculties offer the widest range of learning opportunities in Suffolk. There are more than 200 courses to choose from across a spectrum that provides the option of a seamless progression right from AS level through to A2 and all the way to a Masters Degree. With a structured tutorial programme and a personal tutor for every student the support is there for everyone to develop in the way they want and to realise their potential.
Suffolk College are very aware that learning and achievement come more easily if the educational experience is a good one, and there is plenty of help available with the broader aspects of student life such as study support, careers advice, money advice, health advice, legal advice and counselling. There are additional programmes to enrich students’ time at the College – there is even a ‘Girls Football Development Centre’ squad. Plus, of course, there is an active Student Union, which among other things offers sports facilities, special interest clubs and some very useful discounts at local shops.
The College’s commitment to its students doesn’t end with the awards ceremonies. The creation of the Suffolk College Reunited website provides the opportunity to keep in touch with both fellow students and the College’s supportive advice and guidance services. Although hosted by the College, this new alumni organisation will belong very much to its members, and the future programmes – whether virtual or real – will be shaped by Suffolk College Reunited representatives.
The Sixteen Plus prospectus for 2004/05 is available now, as is the one for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Professional courses. Why not request a copy from the Information Centre on 01473 296606 or take a look at the website www.suffolk.ac.uk? You can take advantage of the early enrolment opportunities to make sure of the course you want. With that load off your mind it will be so much easier to stick to your revision plan.
