Suffolk New College Takes Gold

Students from Suffolk New College took the top spot in an Athletics festival held to encourage young people with disabilities or learning difficulties to be more active and to experience athletics events in the run up to next year’s  Olympics and Paralympics.

Young people from Beacon Hill, Kesgrave, Farlingaye, Otley, Stoke, Holbrook and Suffolk New College competed in the event, held at the Northgate Sports Centre in Ipswich.

The festival saw students compete in the Long Jump, 300 metres, 70 metre sprint, Relay race, bean bag throw and the vortex throw.

Suffolk New College B team took gold with young people from Farlingaye High School taking silver and the team from Beacon Hill school bronze.

Medals were presented by Ipswich’s 2012 Team GB triathlon hopeful, Abbie Thorrington.
