Season of Sound Fundraising Event

SEASON OF SOUND EVENT FOR EACH TREEHOUSE APPEAL

Just before Christmas music students from Suffolk New College put their skills on show in a live performance at St Peters on the Waterfront. The evening event, entitled “Season of Sound” included an exciting variety of musical entertainment from favourite Christmas classics to jazz, blues and ‘live lounge mashups’.

The concert showcased the skills and effort of over 80 Music Performance students who are studying at Suffolk New College’s for a Level 2 and 3 BTEC music qualifications.

Music Technology students, who were responsible for the management and marketing of the event, organised a charity raffle in aid of local charity EACH Treehouse Appeal. They were thrilled to raise a total of £201.50 for the charity, which was presented to Patsy Johnson, Treehouse Appeal Fundraiser, (pictured above with students Tom Couchman, Matt Norman, Abigail Crane and Nick Owen).

Upon accepting the donation Patsy stated “This is fantastic. The Treehouse Appeal has now reached £2.5 million and looks set to hit our target of £3 million by March. This is largely down to the generosity of local people.”

Abi Crane, one of the student event organisers, said; “We are all pleased that the event was a great success. It’s our first attempt at organising a live concert and it’s been great to learn about event management at the same time as raising money for such a good cause.”
